Piet Hellemans in action for animals in Thailand โจ
Piet Hellemans, veterinarian and known from TV, together with Marlie Timmermans, founder of Project Street Dogs Thailand
At the end of January, Piet Hellemans was in Thailand to help as many animals as possible.
Piet is a veterinarian and veterinary consultant, known from various television programs, but above all, he has a big heart for both animals and people.
During his stay, Piet made an incredible contribution by assisting in the sterilization of many animals. With his knowledge, dedication, and enthusiasm, we were able to help even more animals together.
In addition, Piet brought warmth, humor, and genuine involvement, making it not only a period of hard work but also a special and enjoyable time together.
Doctor Piet, thank you very much ๐๐ป

Sterilization
In the past three months, we have been able to sterilize over 530 animals. For each of these animals, this means no more unwanted offspring and a better chance at a healthy and safe future.
Our team is always fully dedicated, working from early morning until late evening to help dogs and cats and make these sterilizations possible.
Thanks to the support of Stichting Dierenhulp.nl, we are able to sterilize animals every month within a fixed budget. We are incredibly grateful for this.
However, we are often faced with a difficult dilemma. On sterilization days, many poor Thai people continue to come from far away with their animals, hoping we can help them too. And how do you say “no” in such a situation?
As a result, we often exceed the available budget. Covering these extra costs has become increasingly challenging.
That’s why we are making a heartfelt appeal: it would mean so much if more people, even from a distance, feel connected to this work and want to help.
With a monthly contribution, we can cover these additional costs and continue this important work.
Costs: Sterilization (dog): 800 baht (± €21) Sterilization (cat): 500 baht (± €13)

Visit to the Saved Souls Foundation, Northeast Thailand
Every year, we visit the Saved Souls Foundation in Khon Kaen, about 700 kilometers from Hua Hin, where we are based. We have been working with this remarkable and large-scale shelter for over ten years.
Over the past decade, we have been able to place more than 75 dogs here, including many elderly and disabled dogs who had nowhere else to go. For these dogs, the shelter means a safe place where they receive the care and peace they so desperately need.
Each visit remains special, as we meet the incredible dogs and cats living there. Thanks to this partnership, we are able to give even the most vulnerable dogs a future.
During our stay, we do everything we can to help—through sterilizations, medical care, and supporting the daily care of the animals.
The Saved Souls Foundation remains an invaluable partner to us, and we are deeply grateful for all the dogs we have been able to help together. ๐๐ป๐

Street dogs are hungry, and feeding them is not nonsense!
Every day, countless street dogs wander around in search of food. For many of them, finding something to eat is a daily struggle and many go to sleep with an empty stomach.
Some people think feeding street dogs is pointless. But in reality, it is incredibly important. It gives dogs the strength to survive and helps us keep track of them.
By feeding them regularly, we can identify which dogs are sick or injured, and which have not yet been spayed or neutered, so we can help them and prevent further growth of the stray dog population.
Feeding is often the first step toward care and protection.

"Visit to nun Nid and her animals"
During our stay in Thailand last month, we also visited nun Nid and her animals.
With incredible dedication, she cares for more than 300 dogs and cats every single day an impressive and demanding responsibility that she largely carries on her own.
To support her, we brought food and medication for her animals.
Thanks to this help, Nid can continue her important work and care for the animals who fully depend on her.

Did you know you can adopt a dog or cat from a distance? By sponsoring a rescued dog in Thailand, you give him or her a second chance at a safe and loving life.
With a donation of your choice, starting from just €10 per month, you join other sponsors in providing a dog with food, medical care, and a safe home.
As a thank you, you’ll receive a personalized certificate with a photo, regular updates about your dog, and of course lots of love and gratitude from the volunteers and your new furry friend. โค๏ธ

Help dogs with TVT
During our sterilization days, we often encounter dogs suffering from TVT (Transmissible Venereal Tumor), a highly contagious form of cancer in dogs.
This disease is transmitted through the transfer of living cancer cells between dogs, most commonly during mating, but sometimes also through close contact.
Fortunately, TVT is highly treatable: in about 90–100% of cases, dogs respond successfully to chemotherapy injections. With just one injection per week for 3 to 5 weeks, these dogs can often make a full recovery.
Without treatment, however, the tumor continues to grow, causing bleeding, infections, and pain. Dogs become increasingly weak, and if left untreated, the cancer can spread throughout the body ultimately leading to a painful death.

Magic Land ๐พ
During our stay in Hua Hin, we regularly spend time at Magic Land, the shelter we closely collaborate with, which is officially part of Caro's World Foundation in Hua Hin.
When there are no sterilization projects or rescue missions planned, this is where we usually stay. Magic Land is our base of operations—the place where we organize and prepare much of our work.
Over time, Magic Land has grown into a beautiful and safe shelter where many dogs and cats have found a temporary or permanent home. It’s truly special to see how this place has developed into a stable refuge where animals receive the care and attention they need.
In addition to dogs and cats, Magic Land is also home to over 20 rescued ducks, 2 rabbits and even two black piglets, making it an even more unique and special place.
For us, Magic Land is an essential hub where everyone is always welcome, and where we continue working together towards a better future for animals in Thailand. ๐ฟ๐พ๐

A word from our founder: real change in Thailand ๐
Over the past three months, we have once again made meaningful progress.
During my recent visit to Thailand, I was deeply moved by what I saw. In areas where, about ten years ago, hundreds of dogs used to roam, I now saw only a small number remaining. What stood out most was that the majority of these dogs looked healthy and well cared for. The difference compared to the past is clearly visible and shows that years of sterilization and medical care truly make a lasting impact.
For me, this is proof that sterilization work makes a real difference. Step by step, we are working together towards a structural and animal-friendly solution to the stray animal problem in Thailand.
This progress is only possible thanks to the incredible dedication of the people in Thailand and the support of Stichting Dierenhulp.nl, who help fund sterilizations, and Stichting Abri voor Dieren, who contribute annually to the costs of food and care for sick and injured animals.
We are also deeply grateful to our loyal donors. Thanks to your involvement and support, we are able to continue this important work.
Together, we will keep building a better future for dogs, and of course cats, in Thailand.
